The Least Sexy Skill Ever: Patience
The hidden cost of saying “yes”
Can’t wait to see the open rate on a newsletter with “patience” in the title.
Real edge-of-your-seat stuff.
But stick with me—because this might be the most important lesson I’ve learned all year.
Hey folks, short edition this week.
If you read last week’s edition, you know I had a big decision to make. A real "could-go-either-way" kind of situation.
Well, I finally made the call.
But what surprised me wasn’t the decision itself—it was what I had to wrestle with to get there.
I remembered something Buffett once said:
“You should invest as if you had a punchcard with only 20 punches in your entire life.”
Every investment—every yes—costs a punch. And once you're out? That’s it.
Now imagine you lived your life that way.
You’d pause before saying yes.
You’d weigh the opportunity cost.
You’d realize that every door you walk through means dozens more you never will.
That hit me hard.
Because most of us don’t lose by saying no too often.
We lose by saying yes too easily—to things that drain our time, money, energy, or freedom.
Alex Hormozi talks about this too—but in terms of life seasons.
You only get a handful. So if you’re going to commit years of your life to something, make damn sure it’s worth it.
So back to my decision.
I asked myself:
Is this worth a punch?
Will I look back and be proud I said yes?
Or will I regret tying up time and capital I could’ve spent better?
The honest answer?
It’s not worth it. At least, not in its current form…
I’m not slamming the door shut.
I’m still in talks. Still exploring. Still seeing if I can shape this into something that makes me say, “Hell yes.”
Because that’s my new bar:
If it’s not a “hell yes”, it’s a “no”.
Lesson of the week:
Patience isn’t just about waiting—it’s about knowing the cost of moving too fast.
Punch wisely.
If you’re weighing a big decision and not sure if it’s worth a punch, hit reply. I read every one.

Learn from this investor’s $100m mistake
In 2010, a Grammy-winning artist passed on investing $200K in an emerging real estate disruptor. That stake could be worth $100+ million today.
One year later, another real estate disruptor, Zillow, went public. This time, everyday investors had regrets, missing pre-IPO gains.
Now, a new real estate innovator, Pacaso – founded by a former Zillow exec – is disrupting a $1.3T market. And unlike the others, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.
Pacaso’s co-ownership model has generated $1B+ in luxury home sales and service fees, earned $110M+ in gross profits to date, and received backing from the same VCs behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.
Paid advertisement for Pacaso’s Regulation A offering. Read the offering circular at invest.pacaso.com. Reserving a ticker symbol is not a guarantee that the company will go public. Listing on the NASDAQ is subject to approvals.
