The Biggest Decision I’ve Faced in Years
A franchise opportunity, a family sacrifice, and the bet that could change everything.
This Is My Bet
I've been working hard at becoming a rainmaker.
But you don’t become one overnight.
Recently, I came across a franchise opportunity. I won’t share the name or even the industry yet, but here’s what you should know:
It’s recession-resistant
It has a strong brand name
And it’s simple enough that I can wrap my head around it
At first, I looked at buying an existing location about 1.5 hours away. The shop was priced at $1M, with the owner making $330K a year.
I figured the commute would be brutal—3 hours round trip. But I kept digging.
The Deeper I Dug, the Bigger the Idea Got
What became obvious was this:
Rainmaking is the most important skill for this business to succeed.
That’s the very skill I’ve been trying to build. And I’ve already learned enough to know that a 1.5 hour drive time would severely restrict my ability to rain make.
But then I noticed something else.
There’s a massive nearby city—one I live close to—that's completely untapped by this franchise. It has competing mom-and-pop shops, sure, but none from the franchise I’m considering.
And more importantly, the entire industry is undergoing massive consolidation.
My Thesis
Here’s the vision:
Partner with the #1 franchise in the space.
Start a location in a prime, untapped market.
Grow through sales and strategic acquisitions.
The way I see it, this market will eventually be dominated by the top 3 players.
If I plant my flag now—partnered with a strong brand—I might be able to ride the consolidation wave all the way to the top.
But Here’s the Catch
Starting a new franchise is brutal.
Especially in a competitive industry.
Especially when you’re not a born salesman.
It might take 12–24 months just to break even. That means no salary for up to 2 years.
All while working like hell to get it off the ground.
The Real Cost
My daughter turns 11 months old tomorrow.
If I go all in on this, I’ll likely miss some of the most magical moments of her early life. And that thought kills me.
It’s not just a business decision. It’s a family decision. Because it affects everyone.
And that’s why I’m so grateful for my partner.
She’s been supportive every step of the way—helping me explore what’s possible and making sure we think about this as a family endeavor, not just a solo bet.
If we go forward, we go together.
My Decision
I haven’t made it yet…
Choices like this shouldn’t be made lightly. There’s real opportunity here—but also real cost.
So for now, I’m going to rest, reflect, and talk with a few trusted advisors.
Ultimately, I believe the right path will reveal itself. I just need to be patient enough to wait for that moment.

Financial News Keeps You Poor. Here's Why.
The scandalous truth: Most market news is designed to inform you about what already happened, not help you profit from what's coming next.
When CNBC reports "Stock XYZ surges 287%"—you missed it.
What you actually need:
Tomorrow's IPO calendar (not yesterday's launches)
Crowdfunding deals opening this week (not closed rounds)
What real traders are positioning for (not TV talking heads)
Economic data that moves markets (before it's released)
The financial media industrial complex profits from keeping you one step behind.
Stocks & Income flips this backwards. We focus entirely on forward-looking intel that helps you get positioned before the crowd, not informed after the move.
Stop chasing trades that happened already.
Start prepping for the next one.
